Information about the software
Microsoft Office XP, also known in beta as Office 10, is a Microsoft Office suite distributed by Microsoft for Microsoft Windows platform. This suite, which is the successor to Microsoft Office 2000 and predecessor to Office 2003, can be identified by the name 'Office 10' or its codename. In the USA, it was released March 5, 2001. It first made its way to European markets on August 4, 2001. The 'Mainstream" support phase for Office XP was completed on July 11, 2006. This is the date Windows 98 and Me stopped being supported. Extended support ended in July 2011. Office XP's tools were given the title 2002 even though their suffix was "XP". For example, Word was not called Word XP, but Word 2002 instead.
The final clippy
Microsoft Office XP was a major component of its advertising campaign. Microsoft knew Clippy, and other Office Assistants, were unpopular and unused by users. These features didn't disappear completely until Microsoft Office XP 2007.
Office XP & Windows XP
Microsoft Office XP was released the same year as Windows XP and despite the similarities between names, Office XP is compatible with Windows XP, but also with Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, Windows Me where it will be latest suite compatible. It maintains a certain compatibility also with Windows Vista but has no compatibility with Windows 7. It is not compatible to Windows 95 (the last compatible Suite for Windows 95 being Office 2000).
